Front SAM

The front SAM/SRB control unit (N10/1) is installed in the engine compartment in the driver-side control unit box.

The most important functions are:

Control of the front exterior lights
Master of the turn signal function
Control of the cornering illumination
Rain closing of the tilting/sliding roof
Actuation of the central locking elements of the rear doors (discrete line)
Crash emergency opening of the central locking via an integrated crash sensor (6g)
Integrated central gateway (CGW [ZGW])

Gateway between the following CANs:

Interior CAN
Chassis CAN
Diagnostic CAN
Front end CAN

Gateway between the following LINs:

Instrument panel LIN
Wiper/inside rearview mirror LIN

Rear SAM

The rear SAM/SRB control unit (N10/2) is installed on the wheelhouse on the right side of the trunk.

The most important functions are:

Control of the rear exterior lights
Master of the ATA [EDW]
Master of the central locking system
Battery state recognition
Control of the on-board electrical system management

Gateway between the following LINs:

On-board electrical system LIN (IBS-LIN)
Alarm sirens LIN

Networking

Relay assignment of the fuse and relay box (SRB)
